CURRENT PROJECTS

The Soup Kitchen: The Chasdei Yosef Soup Kitchen is located in Jerusalem’s Bucharan Market. It is open all year round, and serves 400 free, hot meals to the needy, lonely, and homeless every day. Future plans include the opening of additional branches in Jerusalem’s other low-income neighborhoods.
Meals-on-Wheels: Many people who need the Soup Kitchen’s services are unable to come to the facility in person. Among them are large families, the ill, and those who are simply too embarrassed to eat in a public kitchen. In order to provide them with the meals they needed, a volunteer network was established to deliver daily nutritious hot meals directly to their homes.
Sabbath and Holiday Meals: A supplement to the regular Meals-On-Wheels project, these packages include special foods traditionally eaten on Sabbath and Holidays.
Food Packages: Chasdei Yosef delivers monthly food packages, consisting of the most essential staples, to 300 needy families.
Passover Provisions Campaign: Before Passover our organization mounts a massive campaign that distributes Passover foods to some 20,000 families.
Clothing Vouchers: Through our work with the needy, we found that many needy families urgently require help with clothing their children. To meet this need, Chasdei Yosef took on the additional task of providing shopping vouchers for the purchase of clothing and footwear twice a year.
TALTAL”: This innovative after-school program is aimed at keeping under-privileged children in school by providing them with hot meals, helping them with their homework, and engaging them in supervised recreational activities. The "TALTAL" branches are in some of the poorest areas of Jerusalem.
Be'er Miriam (Miriam's Well): We operate a day center twice a week for lonely elderly women referred to us through their local welfare branches, providing them with a much-needed hot meal and even more-needed social supportive framework.
Kisharon - our subsidized professional training center for women suffering form financial distress. These women continue to receive guidance from social workers until they are successfully employed.
